Eastern Materials was looking for “ultra-portable” equipment that would minimize downtime when the company needed to move the equipment away the blasting wall. On recommendation of dealer partner Contractors Sales, Eastern Materials purchased an Anaconda J12 Tracked Jaw Crusher and DF514 Tracked Screen, and then added an Anaconda C12R Tracked Cone Crusher a few weeks later.

“The Anaconda equipment is very durable, and it’s held up in this very abrasive material and has worked well for the application.”

- James Uhlinger Jr., Crushing Division Manager, Cranesville Block

The J12 is the primary crusher, breaking down 24” rock into smaller sizes, which are then separated by the DF514 into 1 1/8” minus crusher run sub-base material and 6” plus light stone fill rip rap for New York State. The in between product, the plus 1 1/8” x 6”, is further crushed by the C12R into 1 1/8” minus, #2 stone and dust. The crushers feature automatic adjustment for changing product size on the fly. The C12R also features a camera on the crushing chamber so the operators can monitor the feed into the cone, as well as metal detectors and belt scales on the conveyors. The biggest advantage of the Anaconda equipment for Eastern Materials is the portability, minimizing the company’s downtime for shutdown, transport and startup during blasts.

“The biggest advantage for us in this particular application is we’ve had to do four to five shots or blasts in a row, and we have to move the equipment every time. Basically in about four hours, we can have the whole plant moved and out of the way, and we can have it set back up in about five hours. A typical big-wheeled, portable plant, we’d be looking at a week and a half for tear down and set up each time, so that that was a super advantage to having the tracked portable equipment.”

– James Uhlinger Jr., Crushing Division Manager, Cranesville Block

“It’s got a set of belt scales on the primary conveyor and tail conveyor, which I think are important. More equipment should come with belt scales because as a manager, we want to know what we’re making. That’s super handy from a managerial standpoint.”
